Raymond Weil unveils new Freelancer watch with bronze bezel

Raymond Weil has announced a new model based on the "Freelancer" model, which features a skeletonized movement and a bronze bezel. Combining bronze, said to be the oldest metal, with a modern skeleton structure, this timepiece fuses fashion and classic styles. It is scheduled to go on sale in late November 2021.

Vintage-like freelancer

Raymond Weil, whose theme is "Music & Art," has added new pieces to its "Freelancer" collection, characterized by a simple and sophisticated look. This collection was launched in 2007 as a homage to the entrepreneurial spirit of the brand's founder, Raymond Weil, including his strong creative drive and challenging attitude. Since then, the collection has expressed men who are not bound by preconceived notions and who carve out their own destiny.

　The latest Freelancer model, the 2785-SBC-60000, features a bronze bezel, said to be the oldest metal material. Based on the Full Skeleton series launched in 2020, it is equipped with the in-house movement, Cal. RW1212, which boasts a sophisticated skeleton structure.

　The bronze bezel, which emits a unique dull glow, changes its appearance gradually due to the oxidation coating. The color changes depending on the environment and the wearer, and it takes on the wearer's own color, just like a one-of-a-kind piece.

　The movement, which has been hollowed out to the maximum extent possible, is coated in anthracite, a dark gray hue. To achieve this traditional French color, a special coating technique using a platinum alloy called NAC finish is required, and the coloring process is delicate.

　This technique, which allows for a high degree of adhesion and uniform coloring, is used on the movement's main plate, bridges, rotor, etc., achieving a deep, glossy lacquer-like beauty. In addition, traditional perlage and hairline decorations are applied, and the beautiful finish can be seen not only on the dial side but also on the transparent case back.

　The watch is also fitted with an aged brown leather strap, which complements the bronze of the bezel perfectly, creating a casual yet relaxed look, and creating a high-quality, masculine style.
