Louis Moinet's new "Space Revolution" has been nominated for the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG2021), which will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021. This work has been entered in the tourbillon category at this globally prestigious event in the watch industry.

A scene from a sci-fi movie unfolds on the dial
Louis Moinet, a relatively young watch brand founded in 2004, is named after a watchmaker who primarily created astronomical clocks and specializes in complex complications. They create pieces inspired by space that are worthy of being called works of art. Despite being a new brand, they are highly regarded in the watch industry for their original designs and technical capabilities, and in 2021 they participated in the large-scale new product launch event "Watches & Wonders 2021."

Manual winding (Cal. LM104). 56 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 48 hours. 18KRG case (diameter 43.5mm). Limited to 8 pieces worldwide. Price: 55 million yen (tax included).
Louis Moinet has entered its new "Space Revolution" watch in the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix 2021 (GPHG2021), held annually in Switzerland, and has been nominated by the Academy's jury in the tourbillon category.
This unique piece is a pillar of both Louis Moinet's Mechanical Wonders and Cosmic Art collections. Two flying tourbillons, each with a satellite motif, rotate in opposite directions, creating a sci-fi worldview on a dial that resembles outer space.

The movement, Cal. LM104, newly designed for this work, is made up of 470 parts. The special mechanism, which is constantly rotating, is held in place by multiple ceramic ball bearings, and to prevent instability due to rotation, the tourbillon carriage and the two spaceships are made of lightweight titanium. It apparently took approximately three years of development to realize this mechanism.
It would be a shame to only view this unique show from the front. The 43.5mm case is covered with sapphire crystal on the sides, and features openworked lugs and other features that make it easy to see the movement. Of course, the case back is transparent.

The Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Attention is increasingly focused on the nominees.
