The highest auction price ever for an Omega Speedmaster was set at approximately 387 million yen.

At auction held in Geneva by auction house Phillips, a rare Speedmaster CK2915-1 broke the all-time record for a Speedmaster, selling for 3,115,500 Swiss francs (approximately 387 million yen in Japanese yen), well above the estimated price of 80,000 to 120,000 Swiss francs.

The most expensive Speedmaster ever sold at auction

　At a Geneva auction held by Phillips, one of the most renowned auction houses in history, a rare vintage Omega Speedmaster CK2915-1 achieved a surprising auction result: it sold for 3,115,500 Swiss francs (approximately 387 million yen), far exceeding the initial estimate of 80,000 to 120,000 Swiss francs, setting a new record for a Speedmaster.

　While most items offered at auction are in excellent condition, having been safely stored away from light for decades, the value increases accordingly. However, the Omega Speedmaster sold this time has an unusual background: it has been used and exposed to sunlight for a long time. The result is a distinctive "tropical" dial that has turned a vibrant milk chocolate color, with a bright, vibrant brown color evenly distributed across the dial.

　The luminous paint on the dial and hands has also aged, turning a yellowish hue, and the uniform color tone of this example indicates that it has not been damaged.

This model, bearing the reference number "CK2915," was only produced between 1957 and 1959 and was available in just three variations. This is why the early Speedmaster model, "CK2915-1," has become a valuable collector's item.

　This first-generation model, the CK 2915, is known among collectors as "The Grail": it was the first chronograph to feature a tachymeter scale on the bezel rather than the dial, and it was also the first Speedmaster to feature the renowned, reliable caliber 321.
