Cartier's rare archive collection on display in boutique

Cartier's historic "Cartier Collection" models, which have been exhibited in numerous art museums, are now on display at boutiques in Tokyo and Osaka. Nine of the models have been selected to be iconic models that represent the brand and are available in Japan.

Historic timepieces arriving in Japan

　The Cartier Collection is a collection of historic watches that embody Cartier's history. These have been exhibited at major museums around the world, including the Grand Palais in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Nine exceptional timepieces, each showcasing a unique style, have now been selected from the Cartier Collection and are being exhibited in Japan at Cartier boutiques in Tokyo and Osaka.

　This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to gather together nine historically significant models produced between 1911 and 1996. The collection ranges from iconic collections whose design codes have been passed down to the present day to collections with unique shapes that cannot be found anywhere else.

　Throughout its more than century-long watchmaking history, Cartier has proposed watch designs that combine creativity and technology. It is noteworthy that, from a relatively early stage, the brand has been interested in watches with unique shapes, i.e., cases that are not traditionally round. The square-case "Santos," created in 1904, the "Tortue" in 2012, and the "Tank," created in 2017, are some of the earliest models born from Cartier's unique sensibility.
