Perlée's latest collection, "Labo Peripheral," arrives in Japan

Perrelet, known for its unique mechanism known as a "moving dial," has changed its official distributor in Japan to Eau Rouge Co., Ltd. from October 2021, and has immediately introduced three new collections, "Lab Peripheral."

　While the peripheral rotor is usually only visible from the case back, the Lab Peripheral Dual Time Big Date allows the wearer to enjoy the movement of the rotor while reading the time. This technological innovation is made possible by Perrelet's new-generation in-house automatic caliber P-421. The rotor, a plate segment that rotates 180 degrees, is fixed to a gear called a "couronne" located on the outside of the movement and engages with a pinion located on the outer rim of the movement. The ball-bearing rotor is fitted with a screw-in plate with a fluted decoration, and its movement can be seen through the see-through hour ring.

What is Perle?

　In 1995, Perrelet succeeded in developing the world's first "double rotor" caliber.
This was a unique system that connected the rotor of the automatic movement with the rotor on the dial side. In 2009, the Turbine collection was released. Inspired by "double rotor" movements, this collection featured a propeller-shaped rotor set on the dial that rotated at extremely high speeds. In 2012, Perrelet took a decisive new step on the path to independence by equipping most of its models with Caliber P-321, its first in-house movement developed and manufactured by Perrelet. Subsequently, Perrelet created movements that added complications to the Caliber P-321 base caliber. By producing entirely in-house, Perrelet is gaining both creative freedom and watchmaking legitimacy.
