Patek Philippe has announced the "Advanced Research Fortissimo 5750P," a minute repeater watch equipped with the revolutionary "ff" module, an acoustic amplification and propagation system developed by the brand's Advanced Research.

A Provocative Minute Repeater with a Platinum Case

　Patek Philippe has announced the "Advanced Research Fortissimo 5750P," a minute repeater equipped with the revolutionary "ff" (fortissimo) module, an acoustic amplification and propagation system. The "Advanced Research" in the model name refers to the brand's research and development department, established in 2005. It was thanks to the work of this department that Patek Philippe was able to pioneer the practical application of silicon materials.

　The radial motif on the dial of this model was inspired by the spoked wheels of vintage cars. This intricate openwork is also featured on the disc at 6 o'clock. This disc rotates once per minute and has a protrusion on its outer periphery that serves as the seconds hand. The indexes are made of blackened white gold. The centers of the hour and minute hands are also blackened, demonstrating that this model is both artistic and practical.

　The case back reveals the micro-rotor automatic movement, the Caliber R 27 PS, equipped with an ff module, which aims to achieve both sound quality and volume, two of the major challenges of a repeater mechanism.

　The gongs surrounding the movement are fitted with a suspended sound lever that runs straight down the centre, with a rounded end that houses a sapphire crystal vibrating wafer, so that the hammer strikes are transmitted to the gong, sound lever and vibrating wafer.

　The loud, clear tone produced by this is transmitted to the outside through four openings in the titanium ring. By using this method to transmit sound through the openings, there is no need to worry about the case material. In order to demonstrate its performance, this model uses platinum 950, which is high in density and is considered to be acoustically disadvantageous.

　This model, which brings together the company's wisdom, will be sold in a limited edition of only 15 pieces worldwide. Although the case is not waterproof due to its structure, it is resistant to moisture and dust.
