Chanel launches limited edition collection "Red Edition" themed around the color red

Chanel has announced a new collection, "Red Edition," consisting of three limited edition models themed around red, one of the brand's signature colors. The new models, "J12 X-Ray," "Boyfriend Skeleton," and "Boyfriend Skeleton X-Ray," are set with baguette-cut rubies, emphasizing their sophisticated individuality.

　Chanel has announced the "Red Edition," a limited edition collection of watches themed around red, one of the brand's five signature colors (white, black, red, beige, and gold). The collection consists of three new watches: the J12 X-Ray Red Edition, the Boyfriend Skeleton Red Edition, and the Boyfriend Skeleton X-Ray Red Edition.

　The brand's founder, Gabrielle Chanel, once said, "When you feel sad, put on lipstick and face the challenge," and she loved the color red, which has the power to enhance confidence and presence and add an accent to an outfit. Red is an essential color for Chanel, as it enhances clothing and accessories.

　The three timepieces in this special collection are colored in red, the signature color of which Arnaud Chastain, Director of the Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio, had this to say about the collection:

"I have chosen to express the color red in three Haute Horlogerie pieces. I love the boldness of the movement's architecture, which is accentuated by the red, the sensuality of the marriage of beige gold and ruby, and the presence that the lustre of the red straps gives to the wrist. There is nothing weak about red, but instead a resolute elegance."

Two red "Boyfriend Skeleton" watches

The Boyfriend Skeleton is a model that debuted in 2018 and is equipped with the Calibre 3., Chanel's third in-house movement and the first with a skeleton structure. The Calibre 3., which took approximately three years to develop, is notable for its vertically connected circular components that appear to float within the octagonal case of the Boyfriend.

　The new Red Edition models combine this in-house caliber with the color red: the "Boyfriend Skeleton Red Edition" and the "Boyfriend Skeleton X-RAY Red Edition." The former features a matte 18K beige gold case, highlighting the red color, while the latter's sapphire crystal case and red movement bridges create a striking contrast.

　The architectural beauty of the Calibre 3., with its bridges and gears revealing the wearer's skin, embodies the masculine charm that is also the code of the "Boyfriend" watch. The impact of the red color gives it a unique personality and dignity.

　To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the J12 in 2020, the brand unveiled the ambitious J12 X-RAY, which embodies the concept of transparency, free from the brand's color codes. This is the first J12 to be crafted from sapphire crystal, from the case to the bracelet.

　The new J12 X-Ray Red Edition continues this tradition by using red as an accent. The vibrant rubies on the bezel and indexes are considered a symbol of life and passion.

　The bezel and indexes are set with baguette-cut rubies, creating a contrast with the smooth case and clear skeleton dial of the J12, and the sophisticated design asserts its individuality.

　This watch is also equipped with the in-house movement, Caliber 3.1, which has a skeletonized structure. The main plate, bridges, minute wheel bridge, and gear bridge are all made of sapphire crystal. These sapphire crystal bridges are beautifully integrated with the transparent dial, allowing you to view the movement of the gears, which appears like lace embroidery on the dial, from both the front and back.
