Ball Watch launches the Engineer M Pioneer watch with a new in-house movement

Ball Watch will begin selling the Engineer M Pioneer model, which features a newly developed movement with a power reserve of approximately 80 hours. Announced in May 2021, this highly practical tool watch features a robust 904L stainless steel exterior, shock resistance of 5000Gs, and magnetic resistance of 2500 Gauss.

Tool watches that are resistant to strong magnetism and shocks

　In the early 20th century, railroaders (railroad workers) who worked on the early railroads that supported the American economy performed hard labor in harsh environments. Ball Watch provided railroad workers with railroad watches and supported the accurate operation of the railways. Honoring this glorious background, Ball Watch continues to make durable and highly accurate watches today.

　Ball Watch has now announced that it will begin selling the Engineer M Pioneer, which will feature a new in-house movement, from January 2022. The movement at the heart of this watch is designed for extreme practicality, and the case is made of high-quality 904L stainless steel, making it a perfect fit for the movement.

　The dial, reminiscent of a railroad pocket watch, features Arabic numerals made with Ball Watch's signature self-luminous micro gaslights. Inside, the 24-hour display and minute scale are written in white.

　This micro gas light is also installed on the hour, minute, and second hands, and a calendar display with a magnifying lens is laid out at the 3 o'clock position. This dial, which prioritizes visibility, is highly scratch-resistant and corrosion-resistant due to its high hardness.

　The case and bracelet are both made of 904L stainless steel, and the exquisite 40mm diameter and ergonomic H-shaped links ensure an ideal wearing experience.

A newly developed movement focused on practicality

　The greatest appeal of this watch is its newly developed movement, Caliber RR7309-CS. This is Ball Watch's first in-house movement, and is based on the Caliber RR7309-C, which has an 80-hour power reserve and uses a silicon balance spring.

　The reason for using silicon for the balance spring is its electrical insulating properties, and by using a silicon balance spring, the heart of the mechanical movement, and a nickel-phosphorus escapement formed using the UV-LIGA (ultraviolet light exposure and transfer electroforming) process, a structure with excellent magnetic resistance has been achieved, resulting in a magnetic resistance specification of 2500 gauss (approximately 20 A/m).

　In addition, since there is no need for a conventional mu-metal inner case, the Caliber RR7309-CS can be admired through the transparent case back. It has also passed COSC-certified chronometer certification, guaranteeing a high level of accuracy within +/-3 seconds per day, which is higher than the standard.
