Bvlgari Il Cioccolato releases new Valentine's Day limited edition "San Valentino 2022"

Bvlgari Il Cioccolato has launched its new "San Valentino 2022" line, a limited edition chocolate available until the Valentine's Day season in 2022. Five types of chocolate have been prepared, inspired by five ingredients that represent ancient Roman food culture.

Inspiration from Ancient Rome

　The year 2022 marks the anniversary of the opening of the Bvlgari Hotel in Rome, the birthplace of Bvlgari. To this end, this year's San Valentino will see Il Cioccolato return to the brand's birthplace, weaving a story of a gourmet journey that traces the history of the Eternal City.

　Rome has shaped Western civilization throughout its long history. The archaeological and cultural heritage of ancient Roman civilization contains many historical facts, which provide a clear insight into the lifestyles and food culture of the ancient Romans. Therefore, Bvlgari Il Cioccolato has created five unique chocolates inspired by five ingredients central to ancient Roman food culture.

　The packaging design is inspired by mosaics, one of the symbols of ancient Rome. Inspired by the mosaic pattern and techniques that are said to have developed dramatically along with the growth of the ancient Roman Empire, the sleeve was created by artisans at Il Papiro, a long-established shop in Florence, Italy. Each sleeve is carefully embossed with woodblocks to create shadows, and the warmth that can only be achieved by hand speaks of ancient Rome.
