Cuervo y Sobrinos has announced the new Historiador Asturias watch in its Historiador collection. Available in four color variations (blue, green, red, and tobacco), the design of this watch is based on the brand's iconic round model, manufactured in 1940, incorporating Art Deco style.

Automatic movement (Cal. CYS5104). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 38 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 40mm, thickness 9.9mm). Water resistant to 3 bar. Price: 330,000 yen (tax included).

The combination of the neat round case and unique teardrop-shaped lugs conveys the graceful and elegant atmosphere of the time. The lugs, which gently curve to fit the curves of the wrist, not only enhance the design but also provide a comfortable fit. The 40mm stainless steel case is carefully polished, highlighting the contours of the round case.

The watch features a mysterious, smoky finish that darkens toward the outer periphery. The hour and minute hands set on the dial are in the lozenge style, which means diamond in French, and harmonize with the baton-style applied indexes. The date display at 6 o'clock features white numerals on a black disc, matching the overall atmosphere of the dial. An applied brand emblem is located at 12 o'clock.

The movement used in this watch is the automatic caliber CYS 5104, based on the Peuseau 224. The rotor that winds the mainspring is decorated with the brand's emblem, and the bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève. The movement's precision can be admired through the transparent case back.

What does the model name mean?

Founded in 1882 by Cuervo and his nephews (hence the name of the brand), this remarkable group of entrepreneurs and highly skilled goldsmiths hails from Asturias, a region in northwestern Spain. Historiadores Asturias (literally, Historians of Asturias) celebrates the intrepid immigrants who sailed to the Americas in search of fortune in the 19th century.

Cuba was a popular choice for intrepid Asturians eager to discover a new world and live a better life. Ramón Fernández Cuervo, an immigrant from the Asturian town of Pravia, established a jewelry store in Havana in 1862, and then in 82 Don Ramón and his nephews founded a new company, which is named after Cuervo y Sobrinos.
