Parmigiani Fleurier unveils unique piece "La Rose Carrée" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its founding

Parmigiani Fleurier has announced the launch of a unique piece, "La Rose Carrée," to commemorate the brand's 25th anniversary. This high-end pocket watch is based on an antique movement created by legendary watchmaker Louis-Elisée Piguet and has been crafted by specialists in restoration, engraving, and enameling.

　Parmigiani Fleurier has announced the release of a unique piece, "La Rose Carrée," to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the company's founding. This is a top-of-the-line pocket watch equipped with a grande sonnerie and minute repeater, and is the result of the combined efforts of Michel Parmigiani, known as "the genius watchmaker with the hands of God," and the company itself.

　The large 64mm diameter 18K white gold case is a double hunter case with opening and closing lids on the dial and movement sides. As the name "La Rose Carrée" (= Square Rose) suggests, a square rose is engraved on the surface of both lids. Surrounding the rose is a spiral pattern based on the golden spiral, a mathematically derived golden ratio.

　This symmetrical engraving on each lid is coated with translucent Grand Feu enamel, evoking the deep sea. Multiple layers of paint create a gradation of light and shade, giving the lid a three-dimensional effect. The blue rose, a symbol of rarity, is a fitting design to represent this work.

　Opening the cover reveals a black onyx dial, featuring a balanced arrangement of square indexes, a logo at 12 o'clock, a small seconds hand at 6 o'clock, and the company's iconic skeletonized delta hand. Opening the back allows you to admire the intricately finished movement.

　The movement is a complex movement with a grande sonnerie and minute repeater that Michel Parmigiani acquired in the late 1990s. It was crafted by the legendary watchmaker Louis-Élysée Piguet between 1898 and 1904 and thoroughly refined for this model at the Parmigiani restoration workshop. The plate and bridges are engraved with the same square rose that appears on the lid.

　The square design is also seen in the chain, which is made of square links and handcrafted by Laurent Jolliet, one of the last traditional chain makers in Switzerland.

　Based on a movement created by a legendary watchmaker more than a century ago, La Rose Carrée was created by contemporary watchmaking specialists who pooled their expertise. It is a fitting piece to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Parmigiani Fleurier, which has been responsible for the restoration of numerous masterpieces, including automata.
