Zenith presents the new sports watch "DEFY Skyline"

Zenith has added a new series, the Defy Skyline, to its ever-expanding Defy collection. The Defy Skyline is a reinterpretation of the design of the Defy A3642, which was released in 1969, and is a modern sports watch.

　In 2022, Zenith puts the spotlight on the DEFY collection, Zenith Manufacture's platform for innovation and unprecedented expression in the field of watchmaking.

　The new Defy Skyline collection builds on the brand's ethos of robustness and performance, which has defined its timepieces from the early 20th century to its most recent models. The design clearly reinterprets elements of the Defy A3642, a model first introduced in 1969, incorporating modern elements.

　Commenting on the new series, Zenith CEO Julien Tornare said:

"It took a lot of time to perfect the design, proportions and precision. Our whole team is incredibly proud of the result of the DEFY Skyline. It is the purest expression of the modern DEFY line, and stands out without feeling out of place, cementing DEFY's place at the forefront of the future of watchmaking."

　This model is not simply a reproduction of the design of an archive model, but is inspired by the unique octagonal case of the early Defy. The faceted bezel with its pronounced edges is reminiscent of the bezel of the early Defy models and has been renewed with 12 facets aligned with the hour markers. The crown, decorated with a star emblem, is screw-down and is water resistant to 10 bar.

The watch is presented on a stainless steel bracelet, featuring mirrored, beveled edges and satin-brushed surfaces that blend seamlessly with the faceted case. The rubber strap, in a color scheme that matches the dial, features a starry sky design and is designed to blend seamlessly with the dial. The strap can be easily changed without tools using a quick-change mechanism with a safety button on the back.

　The sunburst dial, combined with the geometric structure of the case and bracelet, is dotted with a unique pattern of four engraved stars, a modern take on the Zenith "double Z" logo from the 1960s.

In addition to the central hour and minute hands, which are finished in the same color as the dial, and a date window at 3 o'clock, it also features a counter that is quite unusual for a wristwatch: the small seconds hand at 9 o'clock completes one rotation every 10 seconds.

　This visually stunning rapid rotation of the seconds hand is powered by the new El Primero Caliber 3620. It features a high-precision escapement that operates at 36,000 vph, allowing you to see the tenth-of-a-second hand moving. It also features a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting.

　The automatic winding mechanism, equipped with a bidirectional rotor with a star motif, winds the mainspring, which has a power reserve of approximately 60 hours, and can be seen in action through the transparent case back.
