OMEGA has announced a partnership with Privateer to support the important mission of mapping satellites and debris that pose a threat to space exploration. Privateer is mapping space debris with unprecedented precision and transparency, a mission essential for humanity's safe passage into space.

About Privateer

Like the Apollo missions that made Omega's Moonwatch the world's most famous chronograph, the Privateer mission is led by a three-person crew: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (center), Ripcord CEO and founder Alex Fielding (right), and astronomer and space environmental scientist Dr. Molivah Jhar (left).

　These three big names didn't come together to pursue corporate growth. These innovators, who have solved countless difficult problems, recognize that space debris is an urgent issue facing humanity and one that affects individuals and nations alike. Currently, approximately 40,000 pieces of man-made space debris are known to be orbiting the Earth, none of which are smaller than 10 centimeters. This means that hundreds of thousands of pieces remain unidentified, untracked, and unpredictable.

Real-time mapping information of objects in space

　While spaceflight is becoming more and more accessible, the rapidly expanding problem of space debris poses a threat to satellites that provide essential services for our daily lives, such as communications, positioning, and climate monitoring. Timely and accurate collection of information on such threats is essential not only for the future of space, but also for the future of humanity on Earth.
