The first feature-length documentary about mechanical watchmaking, "KEEPER OF TIME," is now available for streaming

The Hour Glass, headquartered in Singapore and the world's largest retailer of luxury watches, has begun streaming its first executive produced feature-length documentary film, KEEPER OF TIME, about mechanical watchmaking, the history of horology and the concept of time.

Directed by Michael Curiva, Keeper of Time tells the stories of four icons of today's independent watchmaking – Philippe Dufour, François-Paul Journe, Roger W. Smith and Max Büsser – and features interviews with renowned scholars in theoretical physics, physiology and philosophy. By examining man's endless pursuit of precision and the romance of mechanical watchmaking, we are reminded that "time is life."

A project supported by watch enthusiasts

　This is the directorial debut of Michael Curiva, a veteran documentary editor based in New York. He raised funds on Kickstarter because he wanted to produce this film independently. Director Michael Curiva said: "This is my first feature film, and I approached it with the desire to maintain creative control and produce everything independently, from conception, financing, production, and editing to release and exhibition. The independent watchmakers featured in the film were not only a great inspiration to me, but whenever I faced a hurdle, I thought of Roger Smith, who spent five years making watches from scratch just to be George Daniels' apprentice."

Worldwide simultaneous release

　This approach is fitting for the current times, allowing anyone interested to watch the film in the comfort of their own home. Following its world premiere at the SVA Theatre in New York on April 28, KEEPER OF TIME will be available to stream worldwide from April 29, 2022.
