[New Watches for 2022] Rolex Announces New Left-Handed GMT-Master II

At the 2022 Watches & Wonders event, Rolex unveiled a new model of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II. Its most distinctive feature is the crown on the left side, and it features a green and black rotating bezel.

　Rolex unveiled a new model of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II at Watches & Wonders 2022, an event where new watches are announced all at once. This model features a crown and date display window on the left side, and an eye-catching rotating bezel that combines green and black.

　The GMT-Master II, which was released in 1982, has continued to evolve as a true tool watch. In addition to the hour, minute, and second hands, it features a 24-hour hand with a triangular tip, and the hour hand can move independently. It can display two time zones simultaneously: home time (reference time) and local time (local time), or local time and the time in another time zone. This functionality has made it the watch of choice for global travelers.

　A distinctive feature of the latest Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II announced this time is the crown located on the left side of the case. This "left-handed" design means that the date window, which was previously at 3 o'clock, along with the crown, has been moved to 9 o'clock. This requires various adjustments, and the process for testing the accuracy of the watch during final inspections also needs to be changed.

　The bezel, which can be rotated in both directions, features a Cerachrom insert in green and black, a combination exclusive to this model.

　The vibrant green and deep black are achieved through the use of high-tech ceramic, which is not only highly scratch-resistant but also inert and corrosion-resistant, while the scales and numerals are coated with platinum using PVD (physical vapor deposition).

　The Chromalight display, which uses optimized luminescent materials, allows the hands and indexes to glow even in dark places, and combined with the new anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal, provides excellent visibility.

Cal.3285 for high accuracy

　This model is equipped with the chronometer-certified high-precision movement, Cal. 3285, which has high magnetic resistance, a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, and the patented Chronergy escapement.

　The blue Parachrom hairspring, which is crucial to the overall precision of the watch, is equipped with a Rolex overcoil to maintain the movement's isochronism in various positions when worn, and the balance wheel is fitted with a Paraflex shock absorber, developed and patented by Rolex, which increases the movement's resistance to shocks.
