[New for 2022] TAG Heuer "Monaco Calibre Heuer 02 Chronograph Gulf Edition"

TAG Heuer has announced a new model of the TAG Heuer Monaco, created in collaboration with its partner Gulf. This model features the legendary colors and design of the Gulf brand and, for the first time in a Monaco Gulf, is equipped with the in-house Heuer 02 movement. The new "TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre Heuer 02 Chronograph Gulf Edition," eagerly awaited by watch collectors, will be released as a limited edition.

Gulf colors that collectors covet

　JW Automotive Engineering is best remembered for its overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968, 1969, and 1975. In 1970 and 1971, the team also raced the pinnacle of racing cars, the Porsche 917, with some of the era's most famous drivers, including Swiss driver Jo Siffert.

　At the time, Siffert had connections with Heuer, and was one of the first brand ambassadors, serving as Steve McQueen's driving coach in the film "Le Mans." The Porsche 917 was dressed in Gulf's signature colors, and Jo Siffert's appearance at the wheel was reminiscent of Steve McQueen driving the same car, with the Monaco on his wrist. This is how the relationship between Gulf, TAG Heuer, and Porsche was forged. Seeing these elements come together makes it clear why this partnership has become legendary and why the Monaco's iconic status has been further enhanced.

　In 2007, TAG Heuer decided to commemorate this relationship by creating a Monaco edition in the Gulf colors, and since then, every model in this special collection has been a huge success and has become a highly sought-after watch for collectors.

A true embodiment of racing spirit

　While the design remains based on the three iconic Gulf colors, this time the watch offers a more contemporary color combination of special dark blue, turquoise, and orange. Adding a subtle twist to these new elements, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf model offers an even stronger personality and a more refined Gulf feel. For the first time, the three colors are also used on the minute subdial at 3 o'clock. This is also the first time that the Gulf logo on the dial is completely white. Another noteworthy detail is the use of the number 60 at 12 o'clock instead of an index.
