At Watches & Wonders 2022, A. Lange & Söhne announced a new Grand Lange 1 model that is even thinner than the previous model, highlighting its elegance. While maintaining the design balance of the classic Lange 1, the case diameter has been increased to 41mm, while the thickness has been kept to 8.2mm.

A slim design achieved by a "packed" exterior
The Grand Lange 1 has been a staple of A. Lange & Söhne's collection since its debut in 2003. Compared to the Lange 1, which is 38.5mm in diameter and 9.8mm thick, the previous Grand Lange 1 was slightly larger and thinner, measuring 41mm in diameter and 8.8mm thick.

Manual winding (Cal. L095.1). 42 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. 18KPG (diameter 41.0mm, thickness 8.2mm). Water resistant to 3 ATM. Price: 5,896,000 yen (tax included).
This latest model has been further refined to a thickness of just 8.2mm, which not only makes it easier to fit into a cufflink, but also lowers the center of gravity, which should also contribute to a more comfortable fit.

Manual winding (Cal. L095.1). 42 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. 18KWG (diameter 41.0mm, thickness 8.2mm). Water resistant to 3 bar. Price: 5,602,300 yen (tax included).
The highlight of this model is that it is equipped with the same hand-wound caliber L095.1 as the previous model, but is thinner. In addition to reducing the thickness of the indexes by about half, the thickness of the crystal and case back glass has also been reduced, and the clearance between the case back and the movement has been minimized.

The caliber L095.1 also contributes to the slim design. While the Lange 1 caliber L121.1 uses a twin mainspring barrel with two mainsprings stacked on top of each other, the caliber L095.1 uses a larger barrel diameter, achieving a power reserve of approximately 72 hours while still achieving a slim design. Furthermore, the axis of the hands is positioned slightly outward to match the case diameter, adhering to the design codes of the Lange 1 family down to the smallest detail.

The movement, with its German silver baseplate and bridges, is finished to Lange's highest quality standards and features many highlights, including the iconic Glashütte strap three-quarter plate and gold chatons.
This model is available in two versions: 18K white gold and 18K pink gold, with the hands and indices coordinated to match the case material. The gray dial is a new color added to the Grand Lange 1 collection.

The dial is rich in three-dimensionality with its gold-rimmed two-window oversized date, sunken subdials, and Roman numerals and diamond-shaped indexes, and its slightly roughened matte texture and record-like azure finish give it a rich look.
