Arnold & Son has announced the Nebula 41.5 Steel as a new addition to their 2022 collection. The name nebula refers to the vast clouds of dust and gas found in outer space. Some nebulae originate from the gas and dust released by the explosion of a dying star, such as a supernova. Others are regions where new stars are forming.

The Nebula's openworked movement architecture stands out. The opposing bridges, crafted from stainless steel and PVD, create a chic and refined visual effect. This most symmetrical Arnold & Son watch is ultra-thin at just 8.73mm thick. Available with a steel bracelet or blue rubber strap, the Nebula 41.5 Steel exudes cool and intense elegance.
Manual winding (cal. A&S5201). 24 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 90 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 41.5mm, thickness 8.73mm). Water resistant to 30m. Rubber strap model 2,046,000 yen (tax included), stainless steel bracelet model 2,200,000 yen (tax included).

The seven bridges on the dial side of this timepiece radiate from the center to the periphery, giving the sculptural movement the impression of an exploding star. The caliber A&S5201 created for this piece is unique, characterized by its openwork structure and almost perfect symmetry. The traditional shape of the bridges is reminiscent of John Arnold's chronometers, and the openwork emphasizes the lightness of this highly mechanical design.

By color

The bridges of the caliber A&S5201 are palladium-treated, their brilliance harmonizing with the stainless steel case. The mainplate, barrel cover, and inner bezel of the dial are finished with blue PVD. The Nebula 41.5 Steel is available with either a three-link stainless steel bracelet or a ballistic rubber strap with a braided appearance. The two-tone beauty is highlighted inside and out, in the essentials and details of the watch.

Fully equipped

Rather than modifying the material by removing it, the caliber A&S5201 was crafted as an openwork. This resulted in a clear, highly legible display on both the front and back. Each component is meticulously finished to create a perfect, fluid form. This layering of details and holistic approach give this caliber a unique presence in the openwork movement.

With a power reserve of approximately 90 hours, manual winding only needs to be done every three and a half days. The 4 mm caliber also contributes to this model's slimness. At just 8.73 mm thick, the Nebula 41.5 Steel falls into the ultra-thin category.

Advanced Processing

The A&S5201 caliber not only incorporates the blue color, but also features several other advancements. The balance wheel is rhodium-plated to match the gear train and is perfectly matched with the small seconds dial located on the other side. The baseplate, especially the back, is finished with a wavy shape using the "rayon de la gloire" surface treatment, which is similar to a sunburst finish. Arnold & Son has thus succeeded in putting the Nebula 41.5 Steel on a new trajectory.
