Grand Seiko has announced the new "SLGH013." This model uses Ever Brilliant Steel, a highly corrosion-resistant material, for the case and bracelet. The case design is a modern take on the "44GS," and the dial features a pattern inspired by the spring thaw of Mt. Iwate.

Following on from "Snow White" and "White Birch," this is a regular model that brings together Japanese aesthetics and technology.
Grand Seiko has announced the SLGH013, a regular model that uses Ever Brilliant Steel for the case and bracelet. Ever Brilliant Steel is a highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is used in marine structures and chemical and food plants. By completely overhauling the manufacturing process for this material, Seiko was able to successfully repurpose it for the exterior of watches, and in 2020 adopted it for the Prospex series. In February 2022, it will also be used in two limited edition Grand Seiko models. This time, it will be released as a long-awaited regular Grand Seiko model.

This model features a pattern inspired by the spring thaw of snow on Mt. Iwate. The silvery pale blue harmonizes beautifully with the white brilliance of the Everbrilliant Steel. Automatic movement (Cal. 9SA5). 47 jewels. 36,000 vph. Power reserve of approximately 80 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 40mm, thickness 11.7mm). Water resistant to 10 bar. Price: 1.1 million yen (tax included). Scheduled for release on Friday, October 9, 2022.
The case, a modern interpretation of the 44GS, which established the Seiko style, displays the distinctive white brilliance of Ever Brilliant Steel. The 44GS, which incorporates a Japanese sensibility with a design primarily based on straight lines and flat surfaces, creating a variety of expressions through the use of light and shadow, celebrates its 55th anniversary this year. It is still recognized as one of Grand Seiko's icons, and its high level of perfection is evident from its worldwide acclaim.

The dial features a pattern inspired by the melting snow on Mount Iwate in spring. Based on a pale blue color that is almost silver, the shadows created by the delicate embossed pattern create a variety of expressions depending on the angle of the light.
The movement is Grand Seiko's high-end automatic mechanical movement, the Caliber 9SA5. It boasts a high-beat 10-beat dual impulse escapement, a power reserve of approximately 80 hours provided by two barrels, and meticulous finishing applied to each part, making it a significant evolution of the previous 9S series movements. While improving the specifications, the thickness of the movement itself has been reduced by ingeniously arranging the gear train, resulting in a slimmer case at 11.7mm.
This new model brings together Japanese aesthetic sense and technology, and as it is a regular model, it is likely to become loved and cherished by many people in the future.
