NORQAIN has announced the new "Wild One." This sports watch is incredibly light and durable thanks to the use of its proprietary carbon composite material, NORTEQ, and rubber shock absorbers. There are four models in the lineup, including a limited edition.

Innovative and sustainable new products brought together by Swiss suppliers
In June 2022, Jean-Claude Biver was appointed an advisor to the board of directors of NORQAIN. Known for his work reviving Blancpain and creating a variety of hit models for Hublot, Zenith, and TAG Heuer, his sudden involvement with NORQAIN caused quite a stir. Based on the concept developed with Biver, NORQAIN has already announced the new "Wild ONE" watch in its "Independence Collection."

Three different color variations are available. Currently, the Nortec is available in two colors: black and burgundy, with even more interesting colors planned for 2023. (Left and center) Automatic (Cal. NN20/1). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Nortec x rubber (diameter 42mm, thickness 12.3mm). Water resistant to 200m. 766,700 yen (tax included). (Right) Automatic (Cal. NN20/1). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Nortec x rubber (diameter 42mm, thickness 12.3mm). Water resistant to 200m. Limited to 200 pieces worldwide. 799,700 yen (tax included).
This latest model is a sports watch that achieves incredible lightness and innovative construction by adopting the company's proprietary material, "NORTEQ." NORTEQ is a carbon composite material that combines carbon fiber, used in the aerospace industry, with a high-performance polymer matrix that contains 60% bio-based materials. It weighs approximately one-sixth the weight of steel and is extremely light, about one-third the weight of titanium, a representative lightweight material. Furthermore, any material remaining in the production process is 100% recyclable. This material reflects the company's commitment to being innovative yet environmentally conscious.

Nortec is attached to the front and back of the rubber shock absorber, acting as a protective cage. Inside the shock absorber is the movement, encased in a titanium container. The strategic placement of multiple materials with different properties enhances shock absorption, and the watch easily passes tests conducted at 5000g. Despite its complex structure, the watch is water resistant to 200m and boasts high versatility for a variety of sports.
The strap is made of rubber and is the same color as the shock absorber. In July 2021, the company declared its commitment to eliminating animal cruelty in watchmaking, and decided to gradually phase out the use of leather products, including leather straps. In line with this declaration, this model also uses a vegan-certified rubber strap.
The dial features a laser-cut design featuring the Norqain double-N logo. The dial is composed of three layers, each with a height difference of 0.05 mm, creating a three-dimensional effect. Despite the complex pattern, the indices and hands are large and clear, ensuring excellent legibility. The luminous material is X1-grade Super-LumiNova, which provides a long-lasting glow.

The movement is the company's proud Manufacture Caliber NN20/1, a high-spec movement with a robust structure thanks to a double-bridge balance cock, a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, and high precision that has earned it COSC-certified chronometer status.
The Wild One lineup includes three different colorways and one limited edition model created in collaboration with Norqeiner and Dean Schneider, who continue to work in wildlife conservation.
