In 2021, Zenith collaborated with artist Felipe Pantone to unveil the Defy 21, limited to 100 pieces. Now, the company has announced the Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone, their second collaboration model. Not only have the transparent exterior parts been modified, but the movement has also been altered. This model will also be released in a limited edition of 100 pieces worldwide.

A "work" that reflects the artwork of Felipe Pantone
Zenith has an ongoing collaboration with Valencia-based artist Felipe Pantone, who designed the facade of the Zenith workshop in 2020, and in 2021 created a limited edition Defy 21 watch that sold out immediately, as well as a unique piece created for the Only Watch 21 charity auction.
The Defy Extreme Felipe Panton was unveiled this time. Felipe Panton is constantly imagining new ways to express his unique vision, fusing the digital and physical in various ways. This time, he has once again worked with Zenith to create a mechanical watch that expresses his unique "play of light." The watch is adorned with the vividness and customization created by light that are characteristic of Felipe Panton's works, making them instantly recognizable.

Automatic (Cal. El Primero 9004). 53 jewels. 36,000 vph. Power reserve approximately 60 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 45mm). Water resistant to 20 bar. Limited to 100 pieces worldwide. Price: 3,476,000 yen (tax included).
The faceted lines of the DEFY Extreme case, crafted entirely from mirror-polished stainless steel, provide a new sculptural backdrop. The dodecagonal bezel and chronograph pushers are protected by transparent blue YAS (yttrium aluminosilicate) glass, a crystallized glass comparable to synthetic sapphire.

The watch comes with a translucent blue silicone strap that matches the blue YAS crystal of the case, a fully polished stainless steel bracelet, and a black Velcro strap, which can be easily swapped by simply pressing a button on the case back.
The dial, with its sapphire crystal transparent elements, shines. When slightly tilted in the light, colors and geometric patterns emerge. The interplay of color gradations, light, patterns and transparency is a true example of Felipe Panton's work.

The dial base is a transparent sapphire disc, which, thanks to an innovative physico-chemical process, has been engraved with an extremely tiny, hidden pattern just 100 nanometres deep, which gives the sapphire an iridescent sheen, revealing the pattern as it reflects different colours depending on the angle of the light.
The hour and minute hands, as well as the movement, are coated with a vibrant PVD coating, similar to that used on the Defy 21 Felipe Panton movement. The metallic rainbow color gradient, which changes over time, is a unique feature of this collaboration model. The chronograph minute counter features a gradient color scale with a different color tone for each minute.
