[New Watches for 2023] Tudor Releases Master Chronometer-Certified Black Bay in Original Colors

Tudor has announced a new model from its iconic Black Bay diver collection, featuring the same burgundy bezel as the original model. This Master Chronometer-certified model is an iconic model that combines cutting-edge watchmaking technology with Tudor heritage.

The first Inspire model with cutting-edge technology

　The Black Bay collection was born in 2012 as a reissue of Tudor's historic diver's watch, and has steadily evolved since, incorporating in-house movements and more. The concept of the collection is "neo-vintage," expressing the company's accumulated philosophy of diver's watches through cutting-edge watchmaking technology.

　This is the third update of the Black Bay, and it now features the same color scheme as the original model and a Master Chronometer-certified movement, making it a practical watch that pursues even higher quality.

　This model features the same 41mm case and burgundy bezel as the original Black Bay, retaining the instantly recognizable original design while undergoing several practical improvements.

　The case is thinner, and the unidirectional rotating bezel has contoured sides for a better grip, with an insert featuring slightly curved numerals along the outer ring.

　The hour and minute hands feature the iconic Black Bay "snowflake" design, creating a striking contrast with the delicately reflective satin black dial. Gold accents are added to the design, creating a look that is characteristic of the Black Bay.

　The lollipop-shaped second hand and the crown along the side of the case are design elements reminiscent of Tudor's historical models, adding a classic touch to the look of this piece.

　The two bracelets available feature a self-adjusting T-fit clasp, which allows for five different length settings with simple operation and features ceramic ball bearings for a comfortable feel.

　Meanwhile, the rubber straps come in three sizes and feature a special flash fit, with the lining decorated with a snowflake motif.

The third Master Chronometer-certified model

　This Black Bay is the third watch in the Tudor collection to receive Master Chronometer certification, and the company aims to eventually have all of its collections certified as Master Chronometers, making this a definite step towards that goal.

　The in-house movement, Caliber MT5602-U, has been refined for robustness, durability, reliability, and precision in preparation for Master Chronometer certification. The variable inertia balance, fixed by a double-supported traversing bridge, produces excellent precision, and the use of a highly antimagnetic silicon balance spring ensures accurate timekeeping even when exposed to harsh magnetic fields.

　The exterior is also elaborately decorated using sandblasting, polishing, and laser processing. In particular, the sun-like decoration radiating from the center is not seen on ordinary Tudor movements, and symbolizes that the Cal. MT5602-U is a special movement.

What is Master Chronometer Certification?

　METAS Master Chronometer certification involves testing movements certified by COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) for precision, magnetic resistance, water resistance, power reserve, and other features.

　In addition to the extremely high standards for passing these inspections, unlike COSC, the inspections are carried out with the movement in its case, ensuring that certified models are of extremely high quality.
