The Engineer III Marvelite Chronometer, which has been acclaimed since its debut at the end of 2020, features a case and bracelet made of 904L stainless steel, known as "super stainless steel," and a built-in mu-metal inner case for magnetic resistance of 80,000 A/m. Furthermore, it has earned the COSC-certified chronometer certification from the Swiss official organization, a mark of high precision, making it a popular choice among first-time watch buyers. This year, the Engineer III Marvelite Chronometer 36 was released, a long-awaited miniaturization that maintains these three characteristics. Of course, it also boasts the practicality expected of a modern mechanical watch, including a high-performance Swiss-made automatic movement, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and 100m water resistance with a screw-down crown and case back.

The benefits of 904L stainless steel

One of the company's selling points is its 904L stainless steel. Also known as "super stainless steel," this material is the highest quality stainless steel, chosen by top brands. Ball Watch, a leader in adopting cutting-edge technology, began using it in 2019 as the ultimate metal material. Here are five ways in which 904L is superior to other stainless steels:

◆316L Has a higher chromium content than stainless steel and is less susceptible to the effects of acids and chlorides.
◆Combines the characteristics of austenitic stainless steel, which has excellent corrosion resistance, and ferritic stainless steel, which has high hardness.
◆Less likely to cause metal allergies.
◆Using excellent processing technology, it is possible to give the surface a beautiful glossy finish.
◆Because it is extremely hard, special techniques are required for molding. The use of this material is proof of the high level of technology.

Mu-metal inner case enclosing the movement

The COSC-certified chronometer movement is officially guaranteed to have an average daily deviation of -4 to +6 seconds over 15 minutes, elevating the watch to a higher level. Furthermore, in today's world, where we are surrounded by magnetically emitting electronic devices such as computers, smartphones, and wireless headphones, magnetic resistance has been reconsidered, and the movement is now protected by a mu-metal inner case, achieving magnetic resistance of 80,000 A/m (equivalent to approximately 1000 gauss).
