The Hublot "MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch," which will be exhibited at Only Watch 2023, is Hublot's first central tourbillon.

Founded at the initiative of Prince Albert II of Monaco and run by the Monaco Muscular Dystrophy Association, the charity auction "Only Watch" aims to raise funds for research into the treatment of muscular dystrophy, particularly Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Launched in 2005, Only Watch is now in its 11th year. Hublot will be auctioning its first central tourbillon, the "MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch," a collaboration with Takashi Murakami.

Hublot's first central tourbillon

　The coaxial structure of the tourbillon and the hour and minute hands is made possible by two white hands that pass under the cage of the central flying tourbillon to display the hours and minutes. These hands point to 12 luminous indexes. Equipped with two barrels, this manual-winding movement has a power reserve of approximately 150 hours (approximately one week). The barrels are arranged in series on a single plane, and their symmetrical arrangement can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back.

　From the tourbillon and indices to the petals, fans of Takashi Murakami's colorful and poetic aesthetic will find his rhythms woven throughout the MP-15. The 12 petals, richly adorned with 444 gemstones, lend the timepiece a bright and joyful aesthetic. Like a real flower, the petals slope toward the center of the movement. Like a child playing with crayons, the brightness of the colors and the sparkle of the gemstones create vibrant, superflat art on the wrist.

　But that's not all. To express Takashi Murakami's worldview, the MP-15 Only Watch's domed sapphire crystal is laser-engraved with two smiling eyes. The watch's bright energy represents a celebration of the unknown power and boundless curiosity of children.

Unique calligraphy by Takashi Murakami himself

　With the MP-15, Takashi Murakami has created the ultimate gift for its purchaser. And perhaps no one can explain it better than Murakami himself. "I decided to take up calligraphy again. Because my mother loved it, I attended calligraphy classes from the age of 5 to 17. I eventually reached the seventh dan, the equivalent of an assistant instructor. After entering art school, I practiced calligraphy less and less. However, my mother always brought up calligraphy whenever I spoke! So I decided to take up calligraphy again, drawing directly on used coffee filter paper, which is an excellent base for ink. This allowed me to create a unique piece of calligraphy called "Time of Rainbow," inspired by the unique Only Watch 2023 watch I designed with Hublot."
