A. Lange & Söhne has announced a new color model for the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar, which is equipped with three complicated mechanisms. This new addition to Lange's signature complicated watch, which combines a rattrapante chronograph and a perpetual calendar, is a combination model with a pink gold dial and 18K white gold case. As it is limited to 100 pieces worldwide, deliveries to Japan are expected to be very limited.

The most distinctive feature of the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar is its rattrapante chronograph (split-seconds), considered one of the most complicated watch mechanisms of all time. In addition to traditional chronograph functions, it is capable of measuring lap times, comparing times, and measuring intermediate times up to 60 seconds. The in-house caliber L101.1 vibrates at a frequency of six vibrations per second, enabling the stopwatch to measure time to within one-sixth of a second, which can be accurately read using the minute track around the outer edge of the dial.

Manual winding (L101.1). 43 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 42 hours. 18KWG (diameter 41.9mm, thickness 14.7mm). Water resistant to 3 bar. Limited to 100 pieces worldwide. Exclusively available in boutiques. *Price upon request.

The perpetual calendar display will only need to be corrected on March 1, 2100, a non-leap year according to the Gregorian calendar. The highly accurate moon phase display is also designed for long-term continuity, faithfully reproducing the lunar cycle of the moon as it orbits the Earth, and will only become inaccurate by one day after 122.6 years.

The intricate and sophisticated mechanism can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. Switching between timekeeping and lap timekeeping is achieved using the traditional method of two column wheels. In keeping with A. Lange & Söhne's signature style, all moving parts feature straight edges and polished chamfers. Only skilled craftsmen can polish edges to such perfect sharpness and flatness.

Well-balanced dial layout

What makes the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar exceptional is not only its technical merits, but also its well-balanced dial. Following the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon (2019) and the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar (2021), this is A. Lange & Söhne's third watch with an 18K pink gold dial. Its warm pink tones create an elegant contrast with the cool white gold case.

The dial reflects the essence of this watch family, named after the year Ferdinand Adolph Lange was born, with its classic railway-style minute track, Arabic numeral indexes and four well-balanced subdials.

Caliber L101.1

Crafted in keeping with traditional design features, the manual-wound caliber L101.1 comprises 631 parts. The perpetual calendar mechanism alone requires 211 components, while a further 206 components support the rattrapante chronograph mechanism. The screw balance is powered by a hairspring developed and manufactured in-house. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the Maison's signature high-quality features, including screwed gold chatons, blued screws, an intricate swan-neck precision regulator, and a hand-engraved balance cock. Assembled twice, the movement reflects A. Lange & Söhne's high standards down to the last detail.
