Introduced in 2025, the TAG Heuer Carrera Date TwinTime holds a special place within the TAG Heuer Carrera collection, which primarily consists of chronographs and three-hand models. Currently available in only one variation, it is a timepiece that possesses individuality while firmly adhering to the typical characteristics of the TAG Heuer Carrera.

The TAG Heuer Carrera has reached its own unique level of perfection.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Day-Date models, announced in the spring of 2025, feature a three-hand model with a day-date display. However, a distinct addition to this lineup is the GMT-equipped TAG Heuer Carrera Date Twin Time. These models, announced simultaneously, share several common features: they all utilize the same 41mm diameter case and are paired with the same three-link metal bracelet. Furthermore, they belong to the TAG Heuer Carrera Date collection, which comprises TAG Heuer Carrera models without chronograph functionality. Among these, the Twin Time, with its GMT function, holds a special place within the collection. At the same time, this model strongly reflects the decades-long history that the Carrera has accumulated.
The simple design of the original "Carrera," introduced in 1963, put an end to the era of overly complex chronographs and pointed towards a modern, futuristic direction. This visionary decision became the identity of subsequent Carrera watches, even though the dials of the various Carrera models that followed did not always remain as simple. A round, sporty, and highly legible watch—this is the DNA of the Carrera. And this is true whether it is a chronograph or not.

Twin Time, a company with a long history
A GMT model called "Twin Time" actually existed in Heuer's lineup as early as 55, even before the Carrera was created. Over the years, it continued to appear intermittently as the Twin Time. For example, models from the early 2000s featured a single-color 24-hour ring, an arrow-shaped GMT hand, and bar indices instead of Arabic numerals.
However, this TAG Heuer Carrera Date Twin Time model uses Arabic numeral indices. Also, while the regular TAG Heuer Carrera three-hand models come in different dial colors, this model is only available with a teal green dial.
The display layout on the dial has an important historical background. Jack Heuer, the creator of the Carrera, who joined the family business in 1958 and played a central role in management from the 1960s onward, saved space on the dial and designed a more organized display by printing the scale on the inner bezel. This model is no exception, with the scale marked on the inner bezel. In this case, it is a 24-hour display divided into two colors. This 24-hour display is fixed and divided into white for the time period from 6 to 18:00 and teal green for the time period from 18:00 to 6:00. The color from 18:00 to 6:00 is the same as the dial color, but strangely, it does not appear to be exactly the same shade. This is due to the delicate sunray finish applied to the dial. Even a slight difference in angle changes the reflection of light, giving the teal green a unique sense of depth.
The dial features applied Arabic numeral indices with a slightly rounded, semi-circular surface, which are particularly striking. These indices are polished, making them shine in a way that rivals the hands. Furthermore, the minute scale includes auxiliary markings in 30-second increments, which not only looks good but also makes it easier to precisely align the minute hand between the minute markers when setting the time, providing a practical aid.
Case and bracelet
The case may appear simple at first glance, but it actually has many interesting features. Its design is steeped in history. The Carrera Chronograph, introduced in 63 by Jack Heuer, featured lugs with a distinctive diagonal line when viewed from the front. Later, this shape was further emphasized by the addition of facets. The design of this particular model, which we tested, can be seen as belonging to that lineage. While the Carrera's appearance has changed over decades, the design identity of the case lines has always been maintained. On the other hand, there are also entirely new elements. One of them is the small victory wreath placed around the outer edge of the case back. TAG Heuer incorporates this to demonstrate the brand's connection to motorsport.

The bracelet design also shows more ingenuity than first impressions suggest. Tag Heuer did not simply adopt the tapered style that has become popular in recent years, where the bracelet narrows significantly towards the clasp. Nevertheless, there is a very slight taper from the first to the fourth link, but it is hardly noticeable. As a result, the bracelet successfully maintains a strong and sporty impression.
The bracelet features a prominent hairline finish, contrasting sharply with the predominantly polished case. The case has a polished bezel and lug bevels, with only the sides having a hairline finish. The bracelet, on the other hand, is composed of hairline-finished H-shaped links, with polished edges and tops on the intermediate links. This construction provides a pleasant tactile feel when run over. Furthermore, its ability to avoid excessive light reflection and minimize fingerprints is another highly appreciated feature.
The fit is good. The only sharp points are where the last bracelet link touches the clasp, but you don't really notice them when wearing it. The clasp is a double-folding type, and you can close either side first. This is a definite advantage, as clasps with a fixed operating order can sometimes be cumbersome. The clasp itself is very robust and can be easily opened with two push buttons.
GMT is ideal for making international calls from the office.
The automatic movement Cal.TH31-03, featured in this GMT model, represents a clear evolution from the Cal.7 previously used in the Twin Time series. While the Cal.7, based on ETA or Sellita movements, boasts a power reserve of approximately 56 hours, the Cal.TH31-03, manufactured by AMT, offers a power reserve of approximately 80 hours. This movement has already been adopted in the "TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT."

Unfortunately, the TAG Heuer Carrera Date TwinTime does not allow for independent adjustment of the regular hour hand. If the hour hand could be adjusted independently, this would have been an advantage for travelers. Therefore, this TwinTime is positioned as a so-called "caller's watch," or "a watch for people who make frequent phone calls." It proves its worth when you need to communicate with people in different time zones while working at your desk. Let me explain how to operate it. Pull the crown out to the second position and align the GMT hand with the red tip to the correct time on the corresponding 24-hour display. In this way, in addition to your home time shown by the regular hour hand, you can also check your desired local time in 24-hour format.
If you were to travel to a different time zone, you would have two options for operating this watch. One is to use the GMT function as described above. In this case, you would use the GMT hand while traveling, and it would take some getting used to its display. Furthermore, the regular hour hand would continue to show your home time, which could be confusing. The other is to adjust all the hands together so that the GMT hand shows your home time and the hour hand shows the local time. However, this method is somewhat cumbersome and does not offer significant advantages over a pure three-hand watch.
Conclusion

Its functionality and distinctive teal green dial have given this model a unique position within the TAG Heuer Carrera Date range. This watch is aimed at individualists who truly appreciate this form and specification and do not seek alternatives in terms of color, material, or function.
The inability to independently adjust the hour hand is undeniably a significant weakness of this watch. However, aside from that, it possesses numerous subtle features that become apparent upon repeated viewing, and these are what strongly contribute to the watch's appeal. At 742,500 yen, it appears to be more expensive than many competing models with similar mechanisms. Nevertheless, this watch belongs to a lineage of important watch icons, earning praise for its highly refined design, excellent details, and especially its modern movement with a long power reserve.

| Operability (5pt.) | 5pt. | I have no complaints about either the crown or the clasp. |
| Case (10pt.) | 8pt | A minimalist design devoid of ornamentation. The faceted and polished lugs, characteristic of the current TAG Heuer Carrera, give the model a distinctive character. |
| Design (15pt.) | 13pt. | With its superb design and several powerful details, the Twin Time, through its case shape and dial, is a true "TAG Heuer Carrera." |
| Dial and hands (10pt.) | 8pt. | The Twin Time is characterized by its sharp contrast between its teal green hue and red GMT hand. The sunray finish and gently curved Arabic numeral indices create a unique visual appeal. |
| Visibility (5pt.) | 4pt. | Visibility is excellent during the day due to the high contrast. However, the lack of luminous paint on the 24-hour display and GMT hand significantly reduces the visibility of the second time zone in dark conditions. |
